 Feb 26, 2009 - Successful Sportech Super98 Dallas Cup

The best 98AAA hockey came to Dallas this past weekend not Dallas going to Detroit, Chicago or Toronto!!! Some of top 98AAA teams in the  country played against each other in Dallas including some very familiar faces as coaches. These top teams were coached by some former elite  NHL hockey players…. Southshore coached by Tony Amonte, St Louis coached by Jeff Brown, Comcast coached by Keith Primeau, and Florida  Panthers coached by Jeff Chychrun.

Congratulations to all the teams for their hard work and sportsmanship and to Russia for winning 1st place over a very tough Blues team.  Congratulations also goes to the home team Dallas Stars for winning 3rd place after losing in the semi-finals in a shoot-out to the #1 ranked team  in North America – St. Louis Blues.

As a hockey based equipment cleaning service, Sportech Cleaning is proud to sponsor this elite tournament and give back to hockey!!!

 Jan 17, 2009 - FAQ Misconception

 Q. Is there really such a thing as a 90 day warranty offered by other competitor’s solutions?

 A.  Lawsuit waiting to happen!! There is no way to determine how long the treatment will last with each individual – 90 days or 60  days is a rule of thumb b/w treatments but certainly NOT a guarantee you will not contract MRSA or Staph within a certain time  period. Our treatments help prevent exposure to germs that casue Staph and MRSA Infections BUT there is no way to guarantee  you will not get MRSA or Staph within 90 days of equipment cleaning.  This is FALSE advertising…

Factors such as amount of equipment use, individual perspiration and equipment hygiene will determine the frequency with which  you would need to sanitize. Players will still need to air dry their equipment after it is used to extend the effectiveness of the  cleaning process. Rule of thumb during regular season (on ice 3-4 times/week) is Mites-Squirts every 2 months. Peewee and above  every month.

 Sep 23, 2008 - Improved Service - Next Day turnaround by 6pm

Attention customers!! We listened to you and have changed our service offering to better serve our customers.  To improve our    service, we have gone from 24 hours to a next day turnaround by 6pmThis will improve the predictability of when to expect your  gear  back versus some of the confusion and unneccessary phone calls caused by our 24 hour service of when the clock starts  ticking  - from  when you dropped it off or when we pick it up.  We have modelled the service after your local drycleaning store.

DROP your equipment off before the applicable Drop Zone (Starstuff, front desk, etc) closes and your equipment will be ready by  6pm  the very NEXT day.

We still honor any special requests to have equipment back earlier then 6pm whenever we can (dependent on capacity).

Sep 17, 2008 – Top 5 FAQ from our Customers

 Q.  What about the smell? Does it get rid of the smell the first time it is cycled through the machine?

 A.  This process is very effective in eliminating the smell by destroying the bacteria that causes odors, not masking it with a spray or  detergent. Please note, there are times when the smell may not be entirely eliminated on the first treatment, but subsequent  treatments will eventually eliminate all odors. We treat the cause of the odor 100% from the first time it is cycled.

 Q.  I really don’t smell anything… what about an April Fresh smell? was the equipment cleaned?

 A.  Yes, the fact that you don’t smell anything of significance means the bacteria was destroyed and the foul odor.  The equipment  may smell similar to that scent created after a lightning strike. We do spray on some of the gear an optional anti-bacterial spray  (Cherry scent) which helps reduce bacteria and odor from building up during equipment use.

 Q.  Can you clean Wet equipment?

 A.  Sportech Cleaning prefers dry equipment but we can clean wet equipment.  The equipment must be aired out immediately after  cleaning to maximize the cleaning process. If utilizing the drop zone service, Sportech Cleaning will air out any wet equipment on  the  customer’s behalf prior to cleaning. In this fashion, we control the integrity of the sanitation process requiring nothing from the  customer on equipment pickup.

 Q. How long does it last?

 A.  There is no way to determine how long the treatment will last with each individual. Factors such as amount of equipment use,  individual perspiration and equipment hygiene will determine the frequency with which you would need to sanitize. Players will still  need to air dry their equipment after it is used to extend the effectiveness of the cleaning process. Rule of thumb udring regular  season (on ice 3-4 times/week) is Mites-Squirts every 2 months. Peewee and above every month.

 Q. Is equipment cleaning only applicable to high school and college athletes?

 A.  No.  Young children, as well as high school and college athletes have been treated at hospitals throughout North America, for  skin infections and MRSA (staph). Perspiration from strenuous activity allows bacteria to develop deep within equipment -  Regardless  of age.  The amount of equipment use (frequency), individual perspiration and equipment hygiene (i.e air dry  equipment) all  determine equipment cleaning requirements.

Sep 03, 2008 - Hey Athletes! Be Aware and Prevent Staph and MRSA Infections

Staph is a germ that commonly causes boils (like a large, red, painful pimple thaty may have a white “head”) or other sores. Most  infrections occur when the staph bacteria enter through a break in the skin (cut or scrape). If you have a draining wound you can  also spread the germ to other parts of your own body. Do not “pop” or open any boil or sore.

Some staph bacteria have developed resistance, meaning the usual antibiotics can no longer kill these bacteria. MRSA can no longer  be killed with antibiotics related to penicillin. MRSA outbreaks associated with sports teams have been reported since 2002.

Aug 26 2008  - Coach knows best - from the trenches

Just to let everyone know. I used to think that the cleaning equipment was really only important for the older kids but this is  definatley  not the case. Staph infection is one of the most common things athletes are getting now a days. In fact, I have already  had a player  from young stars team get staff this year. When I was kid, I used to get infections on my hands, elbows and knee's  from my hockey  gear. In some cases, getting infection from my cage led to breakouts on my chin. Warts is another common thing  kids get.

We tried washing my gear, sticking it in the freezer, and spraying disinfecting solution on it but non of this worked. I can't tell you  how  many pairs of gloves we threw out as a kid.

Sportech Cleaning not only keeps the risk of staph infection down, it will save you from having to replace equipment. I am not saying  you  have to do this, but if you guys have ever seen staph first hand or had to throw gloves out this could be a great way to  prevent it.

Lets make sure the equipment is cleaned so we don't spread this stuff

The Plano Dr Pepper Star Center is consistently our largest drop zone with 20-30 drops a month and growing.  As a result,    Sportech  Cleaning has leased a space at the Plano facility to accommodate the growing demand in this area especially with the  largest travel  hockey organization in DFW (DJHA Penguins) out of this rink.

We can accommodate onsite (locker room) cleaning with our double capacity machine that will be housed at the Plano facility.  All  East  cleanings will take place at Plano thus keeping to our 24-hour turnaround service level agreement.

 Aug 15 2008 - Team Managers - BEWARE
 Hey Team Managers!

I hear your team stinks! did I get your attention?
Really, I KNOW your team stinks!  And I also know your players have bacteria growing in
their equipment.  We just can't avoid it with the way our boys work so hard on the ice.

We started Sportech Cleaning because we are very concerned about this problem.  It's so much
more than a problem of smell.  It's a health issue with all of the staph going around.  The Center
for Disease Control says that Dallas/Houston has more instances of staph than any other area
 in the states.

I highly recommend everyone get on a regular schedule of sanitizing their equipment.  If you
don't do it with Sportech, do it someway… The CDC website has information about the ways
to control the different skin ailments our kids get playing sports and running things through the
washing machine will kill some bacteria, but it also breaks down your VERY EXPENSIVE equipment.
And sprays are only topical, it's the deep stuff that gets stronger and stronger before it finally
 attacks the skin.

Please allow us to meet with your teams and explain our service.  We really want to make it
affordable for everyone to do on a regular basis.  Our Team Package prices allow for cleanings
at only $32 each.  We would really like to meet with your parents and discuss our solution.

 Give us a call!
